These terms govern the use of adventuremontenegro.me and every guided activity we operate — canyoning, climbing, via ferrata, rafting, trekking, ski touring, kayaking and drone filming. By making a booking you confirm that you have read them, that you accept them on behalf of everyone in your group, and that the information you have given us is accurate.
1. Definitions
"We", "us" and "our" mean Adventure Montenegro, trading as Adventure Montenegro. "You" means the person making the booking and every participant included in it. "Activity" means any tour, course, ascent, descent, transfer or filming service we provide. "Guide" means the certified mountain guide, canyoning guide, climbing instructor or river guide leading your activity.
2. Booking and confirmation
An enquiry through the contact form, by email, by telephone or on WhatsApp is a request, not a booking. A contract between us exists only once we have confirmed your date, activity and price in writing. Until then, availability is not held.
The person making the booking must be at least 18 years old and is responsible for the accuracy of the details supplied for the whole group, for passing our information on to the other participants, and for payment.
3. Prices and payment
Prices are quoted per person or per group in euros and are confirmed at the time of booking. The prices shown on activity pages are indicative and may change; the price in your written confirmation is the one that applies.
Unless we agree otherwise in writing, we ask for a deposit to secure your date, with the balance payable on the day of the activity before it begins. Your confirmation states the exact amount and method.
Unless stated otherwise, the price includes the guide, all technical safety equipment for the activity, and local access or park fees where applicable. It does not include travel to Montenegro, accommodation, meals, personal insurance, or gratuities.
4. If you cancel or change your booking
Cancellations must be sent to us in writing at contact@adventuremontenegro.me. The date we receive your notice determines what applies:
- More than 7 days before the activity — cancel free of charge; your deposit is refunded or moved to another date.
- 48 hours to 7 days before — the deposit is retained, but we will do our best to move you to another date within the same season instead.
- Less than 48 hours before, or non-arrival — the full price is due, as the guide and equipment are committed and the slot can no longer be resold.
Reducing group numbers at short notice may change the per-person price, since our pricing depends on group size. If you arrive late and the activity can no longer be completed safely within daylight, it may have to be shortened or cancelled without refund.
5. If we cancel or change your activity
Adventure activities depend on conditions we do not control. We may change the route, substitute an activity of comparable value, postpone, or cancel where the weather, water level, snowpack, rockfall risk, flash-flood risk, equipment failure, guide illness, road closure or an official instruction makes it unsafe or impossible to proceed. Safety decisions are ours alone and are not negotiable.
If we cancel before the activity begins, you may choose an alternative date, an alternative activity, or a full refund of what you have paid us. If we have to stop an activity part-way through for safety reasons, we will refund a fair proportion of the price reflecting what could not be delivered.
We are not responsible for your other costs in these situations — flights, accommodation, transfers, missed connections or lost holiday time. This is why we strongly recommend travel insurance.
6. Fitness, health and honest disclosure
Our activities are physically demanding to varying degrees. You must tell us, before the activity, about any medical condition, injury, recent surgery, pregnancy, medication, allergy, phobia or limitation that could affect your safety or ours — including your swimming ability for canyoning, rafting and kayaking. This information is treated confidentially in line with our privacy policy.
Minimum ages vary by activity: kayaking and beginner canyons are generally suitable from around 6, via ferrata from around 12, and summer rafting from around 10. Participants under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian, who must consent to their participation. See our FAQ on children participating and on what to bring.
Withholding relevant information, or arriving unfit to take part, may mean the guide refuses your participation with no refund due.
7. Acceptance of risk
Canyoning, climbing, via ferrata, rafting, trekking and ski touring take place in wild, remote terrain and carry inherent risks that cannot be eliminated, however carefully the activity is run: moving water, cold, slippery rock, falling rock or ice, falls from height, avalanche, changing weather, wildlife, and delays in reaching medical help. Our guides are trained mountain-rescue professionals and manage these risks to a professional standard, but they cannot remove them.
By taking part you acknowledge these risks, confirm that you are participating voluntarily, and accept that a degree of risk remains. You may be asked to sign a separate activity-specific acknowledgement of risk on the day; nothing in it, or in these terms, excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
8. Equipment
We supply the technical safety equipment appropriate to your activity — wetsuits, helmets, harnesses, ropes, descenders, lanyards, buoyancy aids, paddles and rafts as relevant — and it is inspected and maintained to professional standards. You must wear it as instructed for the whole activity.
You are responsible for equipment issued to you and for loss or damage caused by misuse. You may use your own personal equipment only if the guide inspects and approves it first; the guide may refuse anything that does not meet current safety standards.
9. The guide's authority
Your guide has full authority over the conduct of the activity. You must follow their briefings and instructions at all times. The guide may alter the route, turn the group around, or remove any participant from the activity — without refund — where that person's behaviour, condition or refusal to follow instructions endangers themselves, the group or the guide.
Being under the influence of alcohol or drugs before or during an activity is an absolute bar to participation. No refund is due in that case.
10. Meeting points and transport
Your confirmation gives the meeting point and time. Some trailheads are reached by rough mountain roads; where transfers are included this is stated in your confirmation. If you drive yourself, you do so at your own risk and are responsible for your vehicle and for reaching the meeting point on time.
11. Insurance
We hold the professional liability cover required to operate as a licensed guiding company in Montenegro. That cover does not extend to your personal losses.
You are strongly advised to hold travel insurance that explicitly covers the activity you have booked — many standard policies exclude canyoning, climbing, via ferrata and off-piste ski touring — including medical treatment, mountain rescue, helicopter evacuation, repatriation and trip cancellation. You take part uninsured at your own risk.
12. Liability
We are liable for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill in providing the activity. We are not liable for loss or damage that was not foreseeable, for events outside our reasonable control, for your own failure to follow instructions or to disclose relevant health information, or for personal belongings lost or damaged during an activity — cameras, phones, glasses and jewellery are brought at your own risk.
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot be limited under Montenegrin law. Where our liability is not otherwise excluded, it is limited to the price you paid for the activity.
13. Photography, media and intellectual property
Our guides may photograph or film activities. We will only publish images in which you are identifiable with your agreement, and you can withdraw that agreement at any time — see section 7 of the privacy policy. Tell your guide at the start of the day if you would rather not be photographed.
All text, photographs, video, route descriptions and design on this website belong to us or our licensors and are protected by copyright. You may view and share pages for personal, non-commercial use. You may not reproduce, republish or use our content commercially without written permission.
14. Website content
We work to keep route descriptions, durations, difficulty ratings and prices accurate, but conditions in the mountains change and errors are possible. Information on this site is offered as guidance and is not a substitute for the briefing your guide gives you on the day. Nothing on the website should be taken as advice to attempt any of these routes unguided.
15. Environment and access
Much of what we do takes place inside national parks and protected areas, including Durmitor, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You must follow Leave No Trace principles: take all litter out with you, stay on the route your guide sets, do not disturb wildlife or livestock, and respect the rules of the protected area and the communities we pass through.
16. Complaints
If something is wrong, tell your guide during the activity — most issues can be put right on the spot. If you are still dissatisfied afterwards, write to contact@adventuremontenegro.me within 30 days of the activity and we will investigate and reply within 30 days of receiving your complaint.
17. Changes to these terms
We may revise these terms from time to time. The version published on this page when you make your booking is the one that applies to that booking. The revision date is shown at the top of the page.
18. Governing law
These terms, and any dispute arising from them or from an activity we provide, are governed by the law of Montenegro and subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Montenegrin courts. If any provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in force.
