How difficult is Nevidio Canyon?
Moderately demanding — about 1.7 km of cold-water swims, jumps, slides and rappels over roughly 4 hours. No experience needed, good fitness helps.
Nevidio earned its name — "the unseen" — because its entrance is so narrow it stays hidden until you are inside, and it was the last canyon in Europe to be conquered, first descended only in 1965. That history hints at the character of the trip: serious, atmospheric and genuinely adventurous.
You do not need any technical canyoning experience — guides handle every rope and teach each move — but Nevidio is not a gentle outing. Expect about 1.7 km of progress over roughly 4 hours, through cold water (often 8–12°C even in summer) and passages so tight you squeeze through sideways. You should be reasonably fit, able to swim, and comfortable in cold, enclosed spaces. If that sounds like a lot for a first canyon, start with Drenoštica near Budva. The Nevidio season runs roughly late June to early October — see the full Nevidio guide or book the tour.
